Just like humans, dogs mental health is important. Dogs need lots of mental stimulation as they grow and as an adult. Why? It helps keep you dog busy and happy. Is like giving him a job to do. The so called “bad behavior” you see when your furry friend chews on everything he finds is due to boredom. For you, your pup's boredom is a "bad behavior". But, for your pup is a way to stimulate his brain. Remember, we talk about how important daily walks are for you pup's physical and mental health. If not, check out my last blog. Walks are for sure a great way to boost your pup's mental activity.

There are many ways to keep your pup out of boredom. For example, toys. A good toy is puzzle feeders. Your dog will be entertained for hours. Another are chew toys, training section or DIY (check Pinterest and Youtube). The important thing is to keep your fur friend entertain with new challenges. This will help your pup's mental stimulation. Now that your learned about the importance of mental stimulation and what activities are good. You must consider how long you must provide mental stimulation.

Adults and senior dogs don’t need as much as young dogs, but walks should be a must. Young dogs (puppy-1yr) usually need lots of activity to stay busy and get enrichment. Also, helps wear off your dog's high energy. Which, also varies on what type of breed. Some breeds need more difficult activity. Such as, running, carrying, or sliding.
